Healthcare has always been an industry where data protection is paramount. Patient data (and access to that data) is tightly controlled, but just as important is the protection of employee data. At BIDMC, the highest value is placed on the safety of employees’ sensitive data, while at the same time allowing employees to do what they do best – take care of patients. This means a nurse may be pulled from a kiosk (with a logged-in PeopleSoft session) to care for a patient – leaving their data exposed. Preventing this type of access or “over-the-shoulder” data stealing was a problem BIDMC did not have a solution for until working with Appsian.

This partnership has enabled BIDMC to put data masking on all Social Security and direct deposit account numbers, log user activity for real-time analysis, and dynamically restrict access to PeopleSoft from outside the BIDMC campus – all while receiving no user push-back. Learn how BIDMC was able to implement a stringent data security strategy, designed to give employees true peace-of-mind without hindering productivity, so they can continue to provide extraordinary care to patients.
